Overview

Enjoy the experience of Chalet Auriane which combines the luxury of an exclusive boutique hotel with the traditional feel of an Alpine ski lodge.

Situated in La Tzoumaz, adjacent to Verbier and in the heart of the 4 Valleys ski system, the chalet offers breathtaking views over the Rhone valley and beyond. It is a uniquely spacious place both for families and groups.

Regarded by House and Garden as ‘one of the top 5 luxury family orientated chalets’, the chalet has been built to the highest specification in a traditional style but with a contemporary interior – offering every comfort and facility to the discerning skier.

The chalet is spread over two floors perched on the side of the mountain. Access is directly from the piste by a small private funicular lift which will also deliver you from the road to the front door. For those who prefer not to take advantage of the easy ski in: ski out, the chalet is located just 100 m from the main ski lift, so no problems with easy access.

The chalet sleeps up to 12 people in 5 en-suite bedrooms and also has a superb leisure spa room with sauna and hammam, adjacent to the large secluded outdoor Jacuzzi.

A proper ski holiday should offer freedom to do what you want when you want. The real luxury with Chalet Auriane is that you have everything offered by the finest hotels without having to conform to any of their rules.

Design

The chalet has been designed by a team of architects and interior designer Hugh Berry, whose c.v includes Fortnum and Mason and Scottish Home of the Year 2020, utilising stone, wood and steel to create a harmonious light-filled space perfect for relaxing in. Together with input from local mountaineers they have created a unique space incorporating the best of luxury and Alpine charm but with some quirky touches.

The sleeping accommodation is downstairs while upstairs is a superb 100m2 open plan living room/ dining room and kitchen with floor to ceiling picture windows guaranteeing spectacular views and plenty of room to relax. A roaring fire links the dining room and lounge areas and the open plan layout allows you to watch the chef in action.

The secluded outdoor jacuzzi can seat 6 people with great views over the valley. It is located immediately adjacent to the relaxation spa room containing the novel Sanarium™ sauna system which allows for a combination of heat therapy from traditional sauna through tropical rain forest to steam room.

High speed Wifi access and a computer are available for remote working.

The chalet is beautifully designed with lovely features, plenty of room and facilities. We were impressed with La Tzoumaz and would definitely return.

The chalet- OMG – the view!

Everything was seamless. Thanks for being so great with the kids too. This will certainly be a memorable Christmas.

Loved the view, the ambiance, the house, the service, the delicious meals. What an incredible week. Hope to be back.

Chalet Auriane delivered top-end levels of comfort and luxury. We have never been so well fed; We received such good care in a uniquely calm and unobtrusive way – the evening meals capped each perfect day. Bravo team Auriane.

This week has been simply brilliant…..this is a dream chalet.

The chalet is awesome with everything we could ask for; the cooking was superb and the hosting was wonderful. We are heading home with a heavy heart.

What an incredible week! You have looked after us so amazingly – we feel like we have been eating in a Michelin starred restaurant all week.

The food and surroundings could not have been bettered.

A wonderful time has been had by us all – friendly, relaxed home from home atmosphere in a beautiful chalet in a superb location. Coupled with sumptuous dining courtesy of Nico and Karina and catering for everyone’s needs from youngest to oldest. Thank you for a memorable time.

We are lucky to eat in some of the UK’s best restaurants but we believe Chalet Auriane has found a superstar in Nico. Never have we consistently eaten such superbly presented and imaginatively created food

We have loved every minute here. The food has been amazing…absolutely perfect!

You did it again! Our 2nd time here at Auriane and we would love to make it a 3rd time. We can never thank you enough for making our stay here so special.

Chalet Auriane is the height of luxe accommodation. A very special place…the attention to detail and delicious food is amazing. Holiday comfort and service par excellence!!

A fabulous time with great hosts in the lap of luxury…

Many thanks for treating us so royally this Christmas. We have had a fabulous week – extra special sparkly fun. Fantastic dinners, wonderful cakes, bountiful breakfasts and a Christmas dinner that will simply go down in history.

This beautiful chalet has embraced us with happiness and the food and service has been the best you could ever think of. We really enjoyed the personal touch around the chalet.

We absolutely loved out time here in La Tzoumaz. The chalet is simply incredible. The conditions were brilliant and this is one of our best ever skiing holidays. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

Ellie has been the most consummate hostess and Dan - worthy of a Michelin star every time we sat at the table. A holiday full of wonderful memories

Dan, your food is just fantastic – fresh flavours, brilliantly prepared and presented. If you open a restaurant in Sydney, we’ll be there every night!

What a beautiful chalet, from avantgarde lights to the dry stone walls, slate fire surround and deep shag cushions, we loved and appreciated it all. A tree in the house? What an amazing idea! ...We love what you have created here. An utterly chic oasis in an unspoilt village.

It’s the best skiing holiday I have ever had. Just loved the stunning style of the chalet.

Your chalet is out of this world and we couldn’t have been better looked after. Blue skies, amazing snow, skiing children, hot tubs, champagne, chick flicks and one terrifying black run – happy, happy memories!”

The best skiing week in over 10 years. Everything has been truly magical. The chalet is groovy and such a great achievement – the food and hospitality have been out of this world.

And the great thing about staying here was...well everything. Thank you ever so much! I had a great time.

Your chalet is absolutely fantastic – truly has the contemporary look – full of detail and good taste, well planned and designed. It’s been a fantastic week here in La Tzoumaz and we would love to return in the near future.

We had an outstanding week in this lovely chalet and were delighted with high class dining and wining.

Thank you for a memorable stay at Chalet Auriane. We loved the food and especially the chocolate mousse – yum! The children ate well too and the grand finale of Etienne playing the cello on our last night next to the fire quite unforgettable.

We are just finishing a wonderful week at this truly stunning chalet. Beautiful setting and beautifully finished. We were superbly looked after.

If I had the choice to go somewhere for a skiing holiday, I’d pick here every time. The food here was absolutely amazing and the furniture really comfortable.

After weaving for 15 minutes up the curvy mountain road, I am greeted by the live-out hostess and chef team, as well as a life-sized papier mâché tiger (rescued from a Liberty shop window), moose heads wearing ski goggles, and various Conran-style design delights. The contemporary design was dreamt up by the UK team responsible for refurbishing Fortnum & Mason. …Within minutes of arrival, I'm up to my neck in warm bubbles in the outdoor hot tub, sipping lovely cold ones from a plastic flute, counting stars twinkling high in the sky above and down in the dark Rhône Valley below.

A luxury chalet that offers access to the same ski area as Verbier in Switzerland but at less than half the cost is set to bring the village of La Tzoumaz to the attention of British winter sports enthusiasts. The stylish Chalet Auriane, refurbished by Hugh Berry, the London-based interior decorator, sleeps 12 in four double rooms and a bunk room. The master suite has a huge quirky bed handcrafted from mountain larch trunks. Auriane comes with wi-fi, Apple TV with movies on demand and an outdoor hot tub.

The Times

Made with local stone and wood, Auriane is split over two floors with an open-plan kitchen and large glass windows overlooking the Rhone valley. The interiors were done by Hugh Berry, the London interior designer behind Fortnum & Mason, and there’s a contemporary take on the traditional chocolate box look – silvery tree trunks reach up to the ceiling, sofas covered in faux fur fill the living room and there's a larger than life steel statue of a 1970s-style skier by British sculptor Paul Richardson.

As we sat in the sauna before making a dash past Philippe Starck chairs and through the snow to the hot tub in time to watch the Alpenglow, it was difficult to work out what else could have been done to make Chalet Auriane any better.

Financial Times

Full of quirky touches, such as a full-size papier-mâché tiger and white reindeer heads wearing ski goggles, the interiors come from London designer Hugh Berry, the genius who designed the inside of Fortnum & Mason.

CNN Travel

The Auriane experience must be how it was to be an aristocrat in the old days: pre-dinner drinks, whisky post-dinner, a selection of terrific wines with food all seamlessly at the ready....Your wish is their command – often before you’ve even had the wish

Chalet Auriane combines the luxury of an exclusive boutique hotel with the traditional feel of a cosy Alpine lodge and, with direct and easy access to the piste via a small private lift, the chalet is ideally situated for all levels of skier.

Chalet Auriane is in the off beat resort of La Tzoumaz, a little-known village due to develop in the future, with a handy lift link to Verbier. The luxurious chalet (left) has fur throws and after-dinner chocolates and is perched on the side of the mountain and reached by from the piste by a private lift.

If you are looking for serious luxury on a budget, look no further. This gorgeous contemporary five-star chalet come with every conceivable luxury.

Ski Bible

Verbier looms large on the list of must-ski resorts, with spectacular off-piste terrain, efficient lifts and 410km of runs – but the cost of skiing there can be absurdly expensive. Drop over the Savoleyres ridge in the Four Valleys, however, and while you still have access to Verbier's enviable ski area, you get to take advantage of La Tzoumaz's prices (and north-facing, crowd-free slopes). Piste-side Chalet Auriane (chaletauriane.com) is a five-star lodging, fully catered, with spectacular views and comes complete with its own funicular.

The Observer

This is an ultra-modern, beautifully appointed chalet with an unbeatable ski-in, ski-out, on-piste location in La Tzoumaz, a quiet hidden gem of a resort which links into Verbier. The chalet itself is super stylish and modern – thinks lots of lime green, funky lighting, Italian designer sofas and bean bags – with quirky twists that will appeal to kids, including a life-size papier-mâché tiger and wall-mounted chrome moose heads wearing goggles. Apple TV, with its on-demand films, television and music, is installed in each room, there’s a Wii games system, a children’s library, heaps of board games and, for the grown-ups, a gorgeous basement spa area with river shower, luxury steam room, Philippe Stark chairs and steaming hot tub outside.

House and Garden

Nendaz near Verbier has really developed over the past few years as an alternative base for skiing this linked area of the Swiss Alps. Now La Tzoumaz, in a valley on the other side of the mega-resort, is attempting to become the new Nendaz. As well as a 10km toboggan run and a cute town centre, it has a fabulous new place to stay, Chalet Auriane (chaletauriane.com). It has a sauna and steam room, faux fur throws and even a chrome cuckoo clock.
